Dear Reader,

Jai Jinendra!

India is known for its festivity, which is not confined to any single religion but embraced across all Indic traditions, including Jainism. Among these, Ashtahnika stands out as a revered Jain festival observed for eight days, three times a year in Ashadha, Kartika, and Phalguna. Rooted in ancient tradition, it emphasizes spiritual discipline through fasting, temple visits, study, and meditation, fostering detachment from worldly pleasures and devotion to the Jinas, spiritual conquerors. The festival highlights Jain ideals of self-purification and upliftment, and ISJS experiential study programs in summer emphasize such practices alongside other important features.
