This nine month residential program offers scholars a rare chance to master Prakrit and explore Jain intellectual traditions. The sixth edition of the Bhagwan Mahavira Prakrit Fellowship (BMPF) concluded with distinction on May 28, 2026, in Pune. At the valedictory ceremony, four dedicated learners were awarded Postgraduate Diploma certificates by the ISJS in collaboration with Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute (Deemed to be University), Pune.

ISJS President Dr. Shugan C. Jain represented the Jain community at the National Commission for Minorities’ Conference of State Minorities Commissions on May 19, 2026. Speaking on “Role of Jains in Development of India,” he emphasized Jainism’s values and contributions in ethics, trade, philanthropy, and cultural preservation, earning wide appreciation. The English translation of Paia sadda mahannavo, a Prakrit Hindi dictionary by Pt. Hargovind Das T. Sheth, is progressing swiftly under ISJS. Planned in four volumes, three are complete up to the alphabet “m,” with the fourth underway. Words from “A” to “Th” are now accessible online. ISJS invites students, scholars, and enthusiasts to explore the digital dictionary and share feedback at info@isjs.in

The University of Hamburg, Germany, in association with Kyoto University, Japan, is hosting an online lecture series on Ahimsa – Nonviolence in Global Perspective. Renowned Jain scholars such as Dr. Priyadarshana Jain and Prof. Jeffery D. Long are among the speakers. Dr. Shrinetra Pandey, Director of ISJS, will deliver his lecture “Ahimsa: A Foundation of Jain Way of Life” on June 29, 2026.
