ISJS WELCOMES DR MUTHU V. PRAKASH AS JOINT DIRECTOR

ISJS is delighted to announce that Dr. Anahita Hoose has joined the institution as a Research Fellow. Dr. Hoose brings with her a strong academic background in linguistics, Jain studies and comparative philosophy, and her appointment marks an important step in strengthening ISJS’s commitment to research and teaching.

As part of her fellowship, Dr. Hoose will contribute to the editorial team of ISJS-Transactions, and will also teach Prakrit and Jainology to ISJS participants. Well versed in multiple languages including Sanskrit, Prakrit, Latin, Greek, German, and French, she brings a rare depth of linguistic and cultural insight that will enrich both scholarship and classroom engagement.

Bio: Anahita Hoose is a scholar of Jain literature and Indo-Aryan languages. She has presented research on Jain texts at meetings of the American Academy of Religion and the American Oriental Society, at the 19th World Sanskrit Conference and elsewhere. Originally from England, where she learned Sanskrit at Oxford, she spent nine years at UCLA, initially as a PhD student and later as the Bhagwan Abhinandan Lecturer in Jainism and South Asian Religions. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Prakrit Language and Literature awarded by ISJS in association with Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute.
