ISJS has opened applications for the 7th Bhagwan Mahavira Prakrit Fellowship program. This prestigious nine‑month residential program will run from September 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027 at Abhay Prabhavana, Parwadi, Maval, Pune.
The fellowship aims to build a cadre of serious scholars well‑versed in Prakrit, the classical language of Jain scriptures. The program includes daily classes, manuscript study, and grammar training based on Hemachandra’s Siddha‑Hema‑Shabdanushasan, including exposure to Ardhamagadhi and Apabhramsa dialects and Brahmi script. The medium of instruction will be English.
Eligibility: Doctorate, postgraduate, or graduate students in Philosophy, History, Indology, Languages, Linguistics, or Religious Studies are welcome to apply.
Fellowship Benefits: Selected candidates will receive support covering boarding, lodging, and study materials.
