More than sixty participants from the USA, China, Thailand, and India have
joined the 15-day workshop on Brahmi Script started by ISJS on July
30, 2024.
Learning Brahmi fosters cultural identity and pride. In classrooms,
workshops, and academic forums, the study of Brahmi becomes a
celebration of continuity—a thread connecting past, present, and
future.
The workshop is being conducted online and the medium of instruction
is English. Each class is for 75 minutes. The faculty of the workshop
Dr. Mukesh Mehta, Research Associate, ISJS provides ample daily
practices that allow participants to learn the script through interaction.
By the end of the program, a certificate from ISJS will also be provided
based on the active participation of the participants. The outline of the

Earlier Brahmi or Ashokan Brahmi: A General Introduction
Pali, Prakrit, and Brahmi alphabets; word transliteration
Evolution of Brahmi: Variations, and Specifications
Deciphering a Brahmi (lang. Prakrit) inscription by Ashoka and Kharvela
