The first annual research seminar on Jain Art, Architecture, and Archaeology
is being organized by the Department of AIHC and Archaeology, Deccan
College Post-Graduate and Research Institute (Deemed to be University),
Pune under the aegis of Bhagwan Shitalnath Chair for Jain Archaeology. The
seminar will be on-site on August 31, 2024.
The national annual research seminar is a one-of-a-kind initiative, which aims
to encourage researchers to pursue further studies on Jain Art, Architecture,
and Archaeology. It will also create a unique platform where young scholars
working on Jain Studies would come together from across the country to
exchange ideas and create an academic space that will cater to the needs of
academia about research on Jainism.
Around 17 scholars from various Universities in India, who are working in the
fields of Jain Art, Architecture, Archaeology, and History are going to
participate and present their studies and research in this seminar. The basic
themes of the seminar revolve around Jain Art, Architecture, Archaeology of
Jainism, History of Jainism, Jain Iconography, Jain Narratives, and other
related topics, which would also focus on bridging the research gaps in Jain
studies and the gap between the academia and commoners interested in this
field of study.
