This edition of the Speak Up section features an article titled Rediscovering the Joga Batrisi: New Manuscript Evidence from a Jain Yoga Research Stay in Pune by Ms. Corinna May Lhoir, Research Associate, Hamburg University, Germany. This article conveys how the author’s research stay at ISJS was fruitful. During her stay, she identified a second manuscript of Joga Batrīsī, a 16th-century vernacular Jain text by Pārśvacandra. She highlights how this discovery opens new avenues for comparative philological study and raises important questions about the circulation, doctrinal role, and pedagogical use of such vernacular yoga texts within Jain traditions.
The Speak Up series is an integral part of ISJS’s outreach, offering scholars and associates a platform to share fresh insights, bold ideas, and creative reflections that extend beyond conventional academic formats.
