ISJS invites applications for Teaching For Peace (TFP.2026), a three-week residential program in India from July 2 – 22, 2026.
About the Program
Designed exclusively for K–12 educators, this three week immersive journey brings the principles of ahimsa (nonviolence) into the heart of teaching, community life, and daily practice. India itself becomes a living classroom—offering firsthand encounters with the philosophy, traditions, and cultural expressions of ahimsa. Participants will explore how nonviolence can shape pedagogy, nurture compassionate communities, and inspire peace-centered education.
Program Highlights
Training in ahimsa, meditation, and spiritual reflection
Exploration of ahimsa in food, health, conflict resolution, race relations, labor, sports, and more
Conversations with teachers, administrators, and students
Interactions with educators, professionals, and public servants embodying ahimsa
School visits where children practice nonviolence daily
Visits to Gandhi related places and museums
Earn 3 academic credit units upon successful completion
