ISJS PUNE WELCOMES DR. JASVANT. N. MODI & DELEGATION FROM USA
The International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) was honored to host Dr. Jasvant N. Modi from the USA, accompanied by his wife Dr. Mrs. Meera Modi, distinguished colleagues Mr. Bhupen Mehta and Mr. Manish Mehta, during January 20–21.
Dr. Modi met with the ISJS team and students, engaging in thoughtful discussions about ongoing initiatives and future directions. The ISJS Director, Dr. Shrinetra Pandey, presented a comprehensive overview of the institution’s activities, highlighting its commitment to advancing Jain studies globally. The delegation also enjoyed the Visit to Abhay Prabhavana.
On January 21, Dr. Modi graced 2nd Bhagwan Kunthunath ISJS Awards for best book and paper ceremony, underscoring the importance of recognizing scholarly contributions in Jain studies. His presence added dignity and encouragement to the event.
The visit also included a special tour of the museum project, where ISJS Chairman Dr. Abhay Firodia personally accompanied Dr. Modi and the delegation to brief his vision behind the museum initiative.
Earlier, on January 20, Dr. Pandey guided Dr. Modi and his delegation through visits to several eminent institutions in Pune, including the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), Shrut Bhavan, Deccan College, and Mahavir Jain Vidyalaya. These engagements provided valuable insights into the rich academic and cultural landscape of the city. This visit reaffirmed ISJS’s role as a hub for international collaboration for Jain studies, bridging scholars and institutions across continents to deepen the study and propagation of Jain philosophy and culture.
