The second one-month online course on Apabhramsa Language and Grammar commenced on April 3, 2026, with the Namokar Mantra recited by Ms. Pragya Jain. Prof. Eva De Clercq, Associate Professor of Languages and Cultures of India and Program Director of Oriental Languages and Cultures at Ghent University, delivered the keynote address. She emphasized the rich literary tradition of Apabhramsa and highlighted the importance of its study.
ISJS Director Dr. Shrinetra Pandey welcomed the participants, introduced ISJS, and outlined the course guidelines. Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Senior Research Fellow at ISJS, presented the curriculum and teaching methodology, while Dr. Navin Kumar Srivastav, Associate Director of ISJS, offered the vote of thanks. The program was conducted by Mr. Harshit Mishra, Research Associate at ISJS.
A total of 25 participants from 12 Indian states and the USA have enrolled. Conducted in Hindi, the program features daily interactions and weekly assessments.
The curriculum includes vowels, consonants, declensions, conjugations, numerals, and more, taught with reference to Acharya Hemachandra’s Siddha-Hema-Shabdanushasana.
