BMPF FELLOWS COMPLETE TWO AND A HALF MONTHS OF RIGOROUS
PRAKRIT STUDY
The nine-month Bhagwan Mahavira Prakrit Fellowship (BMPF) has successfully completed its initial two and a
half months, with five dedicated participants from diverse regions of India.
The fellows have embarked on a structured journey into Prakrit studies, beginning with
Siddha-Hema-Shabdanushasana—a seminal 12th-century grammar text. During this period, their curriculum has
covered key grammatical concepts including:
Translation exercises from English to Prakrit (present and future tense)
These topics build upon the foundational modules introduced during the first month.
As part of this residential fellowship, participants are immersed in the rigorous study of Prakrit—an ancient
Indian language and the medium of Jain canonical literature.
On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, the fellows appeared for their second monthly test. Each participant, coming from
varied academic backgrounds, performed to the best of their ability. These assessments not only track individual
progress but also guide instructors in refining future lesson plans.
ISJS extends its warm wishes to all BMPF fellows for a meaningful and transformative academic journey ahead.
