In a landmark decision, the Hon. High Court of Jharkhand has ruled in favor of the Jain community, recognizing
Sammed Shikhar as a sacred pilgrimage site. The verdict comes after years of advocacy and protests by Jain
monks and followers, who sought to preserve the sanctity of the revered location.
The ruling ensures that Sammed Shikhar, located in the Parasnath Hills of Jharkhand, will remain protected
from commercial and tourism-related activities that could compromise its religious significance.
Authorities have assured that measures will be taken to uphold the sanctity of the site, reinforcing its
status as a place of spiritual importance. The verdict is expected to set a precedent for the protection of
other religious sites across India. A follow-up proceeding to ensure the implementation of the court’s
instructions is scheduled on July 21, 2025.
