Interaction with Sthanakvasi Muni Shri Mahendra Rishiji at Panvel, Maharshtra

The 20th International Summer School for Jain Studies, which offers participants an immersive journey into the living traditions of Jainism through hands-on learning and cultural engagement, is nearing its conclusion.

The 5-week program has drawn 11 participants from diverse countries such as the US, UK, Bangladesh, and India, all engaging in the enriching educational experience.

Following their induction on June 17, 2025, the participants explored a range of topics and presented synopses as part of their research paper preparation. As part of their enriching journey, the participants visited Jain pilgrimage sites in Panvel, Kolhapur, and nearby areas, where they also met with Jain ascetics.

The visit started on July 8, 2025, when the participants reached Panvel to interact with Shraman Sangh Yuvacharya Param Pujya Shri Mahendra Rishi ji MS. He gave ample time to the participants and answered their queries. The participants also got a chance to attend his sermon and see the process of the monks’ accepting and taking food.

The group visited Nandre, where they met Muni Shri Sarasvat Sagar, Muni Shri Jayant Sagar, Muni Shri Siddh Sagar, and Kshullak Shri Shrut Sagar. They also gave ample time to the group for personal interaction. The group keenly observed their ahaar-charya (food-taking process).

The group made the most of their visit and returned to Navalveerayatan on July 12, 2025, where they are now working on their individual research projects.
