ISJS is deeply saddened by the demise of its academic advisor and
former trustee Prof. Viney Jain. He was the current trustee of the Jain
Education Institutes Support (JEIS), New Delhi. He was also the
Emeritus Professor at Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (JVBI), Ladnun.
Prof. Viney Jain, a distinguished biophysicist and radiation biologist,
passed away, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking research and
academic contributions. Trained in Goettingen, Kiel, and Frankfurt/M,
Germany, he was a recipient of the DAAD and Humboldt Foundation
fellowships. Prof. Jain authored over 150 research publications, edited
three monographs, and served on faculties of premier institutions like
AIIMS, Delhi University, and NIMHANS.
Born on December 24, 1938, Prof. Jain was an active member of
numerous societies, leading the Indian Photobiology Society and the
Indian Society for Radiation Biology. Beyond science, Prof. Jain's
interests spanned the philosophy of science, eco-friendly living, and
the intersection of religion, spirituality, and science. His recent studies
focused on Leshya, Preksha Meditation, Forgiveness, and Behavior
Modification.
Prof. Viney Jain will always be remembered by ISJS for his guidance
and mentorship.
