APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR INTERNATIONAL SUMMER
SCHOOL ON JAIN STUDIES (ISSJS.2025)
ISJS is thrilled to announce our highly anticipated Summer School
Program called the International Summer School for Jain Studies
(ISSJS.2025) from June 17, 2025 to July 21, 2025. This upcoming
program promises to provide an enriching academic experience,
delving into the profound teachings of Jainism. We invite scholars and
students from around the globe to join us on this immersive journey of
learning and exploration.
This program offers experiential study, including in-depth lectures and
endless discussions that dive deep into the intricacies of Jain thought.
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit sacred Jain
pilgrimage sites, temples, and institutions. It is a great opportunity to
engage in meaningful interactions with Jain ascetics and
householders, enriching your understanding of this ancient tradition.
Testimonial During the five weeks, we visited several locations associated
with Jainism. The most exciting was meeting with Digambara
monks who were able to share their experiences in monkhood.
We also interacted with Jain nuns who also gave their insightful
experiences. We also visited the newly constructed Jain
Museum where the entire Jainism and Indian religiosity and
culture are illustrated. The entire stay in the school and India
has been marvelous. The lectures, visits to several Jain sites,
vegetarian meals, interactions with students from different
countries, and the beautiful environment and climate were
wonderful experiences. I thank all those who contributed in
different forms to make study a reality.
~Prof. Peter Mumo, Department of Philosophy and Religious
Studies, University of Kenya, Nairobi Initially, when I came to know about this program, being a
Buddhist scholar, I was concerned about studying Jainism for
five long weeks. I can now say that every day I spend here is
worth it. Thank you ISJS for this lifetime experience, for better
learning, and for understanding Jainism as a real-life practice.
~Dr. Sanjay Shakya, Lecturer, Department of Buddhist Studies,
Lumbini Buddhist University, Nepal
