Stress is the new usual. We see people suffering from physical,
mental, and natural stress around the world to people of every age. In
order to combat such stressful times, Jainism places immense
emphasis on compassion. It is one of the characteristics of a true Jain.
Acharya Virsena says, ‘compassion is the innate nature of a living
being’. Swami Kartikeya considers compassion to be a mark of
spiritual awakening. It is also the nonviolence to be compassionate
and kind to all forms of living beings, and to oneself as well.
At the critical juncture of the relentless wildfires in South California,
USA, many of our friends and colleagues are going through testing
times. The International School for Jain Studies ‘ISJS’ expresses its
unwavering solidarity with everyone affected and prays compassion
and equanimity to prevail in all our hearts.
In keeping with our dedication to fostering kindness in practice and
engaging with Jain studies, ISJS continues to offer its Summer
Program for five weeks from June 17 to July 21, 2025, that provides an
immersive experience to participants to engage and comprehend the
Jain philosophy and values. Additionally, we are pleased to present
our Annual Report, which details of all the programs we successfully
carried out in 2024 with a promise to continue our dedicated efforts!
As we move forward, let us embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with
enthusiasm and determination. Together, we can further our mission, expand
our reach, and continue to make meaningful contributions to the study of
Prakrit and Jainism. Here's to another year of growth, learning, and shared
successes.
