INTERNATIONAL WINTER SCHOOL FOR JAIN STUDIES
CONCLUDES
ISJS has successfully inaugurated its 10-day Online Winter Program
on Jainism. The program has garnered significant enthusiasm from
scholars and students worldwide, reflecting the growing interest in Jain
studies.
The Winter Program on Jain Philosophy and Way of Life, known as the
International Winter School for Jain Studies (IWSJS.2024), has 60
participants from the USA, UK, Malaysia and India. This 7th edition of
the 10-day online program runs from Saturday, December 28, to
Monday, January 6, 2025, from 7.30 PM to 10.00 PM IST.
The inaugural program on December 28, 2024, was presided over
by Dr Sulekh C Jain who is the co-founder of ISJS. Harshit Mishra,
Research Associate at ISJS, recited the Namokar Mantra. ISJS
Director Dr Shrinetra Pandey presented the welcome speech,
introduction to ISJS, and important guidelines for the participants.
Dr Nitin Shah, the inaugural speaker, addressed the gathering
and applauded the efforts made by ISJS to make this program
available to a wide audience. Dr Sulekh C Jain shared his stories
from the inception of ISJS and encouraged everyone to apply the
Jain values in life. Dr Shugan C Jain, President-ISJS extended
the vote of thanks. The program was conducted by Pragya Jain,
Research Associate, ISJS.
This intensive course aims to explore Jain philosophy, ethics,
and culture in-depth through engaging lectures, interactive
sessions, and daily assignments. Participants are set to gain a
comprehensive understanding of Jainism's profound teachings
and its relevance in contemporary times. They will also receive
a certificate of participation on successful completion of the
program.
