LECTURE ON KANKALI TILA AT DECCAN COLLEGE
Bhagwan Shitalnath Chair for Jain Archeology at Deccan College
Post-Graduate and Research Institute, Pune has organized a lecture
on Kankali Tila: Past and Present.
The lecture is organized under Prof. H.D. Sankalia Monthly Lecture Series on Jain Heritage on October 30, 2024, via Google Meet from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It will be delivered by Dr. Kanika Kishore Saxena, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Lady Shriram College, New Delhi.
The lecture will explore the archaeological findings from Kankali Tila, Mathura, which is a key site for understanding Jainism of the early period. It also critically examines the practices of stupa worship, image donation, and the presence of multiple Tirthamkara images being worshipped simultaneously.
