Prof. Rajaram Jain honoured with Padma Shri



President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious Padma Shri Award 2024 to Prof. Rajaram Jain in the field of Literature and Education on May 9, 2024. Prof. Jain is an indologist, epigraphist, and writer, and a versatile literary scholar. He has dedicated over six decades of his life to the restoration, research, compilation, and translation of ancient and medieval Indian manuscripts.

Born on February 1, 1929, Prof. Jain is originally from Malthon, a small town in the Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, India. He was a Professor and Head of the Department in the Department of Jainism and Prakrit Languages atVeer Kunwar Singh University, Arrah (Bihar). He did his doctoral research on Raidhu, a great poet of Apabhramsa, which is an exemplary research workin the field.
