BMPF participants with Bhagwan Shitalnath Research Fellow at Deccan College Archaeology Museum

The participants of Bhagwan Mahavira Prakrit Fellowship program visited the Bhagwan Shitalnath Chair for Jain Archaeology, Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute (Deemed to be University), Pune on May 9, 2024.

The participants are enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma Course with Deccan College for their nine-month-long Prakrit program. They found the visit fascinating and enjoyed the interaction with Vice Chancellor Prof. Pramod Pandey who introduced the academic activities being run with the support of ISJS.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Prasad Joshi introduced their Sanskrit dictionary project and other responsible people working on the project demonstrated their deft and intense working manner.

The participants also visited the archaeology museum of the institute. The research fellow at the Bhagwan Shitalnath Chair for Jain Archaeology, Oshin Bamb, briefed them about the excavations by Deccan College, particularly the Jain archaeological sites.

The chair coordinator Dr. Shrikant Ganvir discussed further plans and the bright future of the Bhagwan Shitalnath Chair for Jain Archaeology, which is funded by the International School for Jain Studies and is a part of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archaeology at Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute.
