Graduate and Research Institute, Pune organized a lecture on Painted
Stories: The Art of Seth Bhandasar Jain Temple, Bikaner which was
delivered by Dr. Swapna Joshi.
The lecture was organized as the fourth lecture under Prof. H.D. Sankalia Monthly Lecture Series on Jain Heritage on December 26, 2024, via Google Meet from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Subject expert Dr. Joshi has her research in temple architecture, especially on the Lonar crater, from the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER).
The lecture discussed the Seth Bhandasar Jain Temple, located in Bikaner, which is a significant religious and cultural site dedicated to the fifth tirthamkara Sumatinath. The talk also delved into the artistic and religious dimensions of the paintings at the temple.
