Online Monthly Lecture on Syadvada and Naya was organized
The 16th lecture in the online monthly lecture series by ISJS was
delivered by Mr Dharmaraj Khot on Syadavada and Naya in Jain
Philosophy on August 30, 2024.
Mr. Khot is a leader in the financial services consulting industry having served in multiple leadership roles with more than 22 years of experience. A frequent speaker, Mr. Khot has delivered lectures on various Jain texts. Apart from editing Tattvartha Sutra's Hindi translation and Dravya Samgraha's English translation, he has translated Ishtopadesha and Samadhitantram from Sanskrit into modern English.
The lecture highlighted the concept of syadvada, and correlated syadvada with naya while discussing different types of nayas.
Prof. Dharm Chand Jain chaired the session. He is Professor, Endowment Chair, Centre for Jain Sudies at Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad. He is President of the Rajasthan Prakrit Bhasha & Sahitya Academy and Vice President of the Jain Academy of Scholars. A Sanskrit and Prakrit enthusiast, Prof. Jain has served as Head, Sanskrit Department and Founding Director of the Buddhist Studies Centre at Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. Former Chief Editor of Jinvani – a monthly Jain magazine, and Editor of Swadhyay Shiksha – another bimonthly Jain Journal, he has edited about 36 books and authored 06 books on Jainism and Buddhism.
