It is the time of the year when Jains immerse in introspection,
forgiveness, and spiritual rejuvenation during the auspicious season of
self-restraint. Paryushana Parva, an eight-day festival for Shwetambar
Jains begins on August 31, 2024 followed by Daslakshana Parva
starting September 8, the ten-day festival for Digambar Jains.
Paryushana is the festival of practicing austerities and there is a
tradition to read Kalpasutra throughout the festival while Dasalakshan
is the festival of ten virtues when preferably the Tattvarthasutra is read
every day by the Jains. Apart from forgiveness, self-discipline, and
study of scriptures, observing equanimity (samayika) is another
common thread in the two traditions.
International School for Jain Studies ‘ISJS’ wishes the best for the
Jains on their inner pilgrimage during the spiritual festival.
ISJS also wishes the fifth Bhagwan Mahavira Prakrit Fellowship
program participants the best at its onset and is assured of a
wonderful teaching-learning journey for the next nine months. Besides,
as we step into the Firodia Institute of Philosophy, Culture, and History
‘FIPCH’ Centre, the best wishes go to the ISJS team to engage with
the potential for new beginnings.
