ISJS Director (acting) Dr. Shrinetra Pandey and ISJS key faculty
member Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh addressed the gathering at the
seminar on Art and Archaeology.
Bhagwan Shitalnath Chair for Jain Archaeology (funded by ISJS, Pune
and Vardhman Charitable Foundation, USA), Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute (Deemed to be University), Pune
organized the first annual research seminar on Jain Art, Architecture,
and Archaeology on August 31, 2024. It was a one-of-a-kind initiative,
which aimed to encourage researchers to pursue further studies on
Jain Art, Architecture, and Archaeology. It also created a unique
platform where young scholars working on Jain Studies came together
from across the country to exchange ideas and create an academic
space for Jainism.
Around 17 scholars from various universities in India working
in the fields of Jain Art, Architecture, Archaeology, and History
presented their studies and research in the seminar. The seminar was
attended by more than 100 participants.
Dr. Shrinetra Pandey addressed the inaugural session and Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh addressed the valedictory session as guests of honor.
