INTERNATIONAL WINTER SCHOOL FOR JAIN STUDIES STARTED FROM DECEMBER 28
International Winter School for Jain Studies by ISJS has started online from December 28, 2023. On the first day, the participants introduced themselves and shared their views on learning Jainism. Prof. Jeffery D. Long (Elizabethtown College, PA, USA), the inaugural speaker, summed up the significance of studying Jainism in his much-praised inaugural presentation. Prof. Christopher K. Chapple (LMU, LA, USA) also discussed the importance of learning Jain studies.
Dr. Shrinetra Pandey, Director (Acting) of ISJS, welcomed the participants and invitees and presented in detail about ISJS activities. Dr. Shugan C. Jain, President ISJS, and Dr. Sulekh C. Jain, Advisor ISJS gave their best wishes to the participants.
The participants are learning the fundamentals of Jainism from subject experts in different fields. Apart from lectures, the participants will also get an opportunity to interact with a Jain ascetic and a Jain householder family. The course provides a platform to learn through interaction and daily evaluation. The 10-day program will end on January 6, 2024.
