International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) successfully completed its 3rd 10 days International Winter School for Jain Studies (IWSJS) from December 28, 2020 to January 6, 2021. Due to COVID-19, this year this winter program is being conducted online for the first time. This year, more than 40 participants from USA, UK, Switzerland, Sweden, Canada, Spain, Russia, Romania, Ukraine, China, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Greece and India are enrolled in this online program.
During these 10 days, the participants studied the basics of Jainism such as introduction to Jainism, the place of Jainism in Indian Philosophy, Antiquity of Jainism, Metaphysics, fundamental values, daily practices, Puja and Rituals, householder conduct, origin and development of Prakrit language, Jain Yoga, Epistemology, Bio Ethics, Sallekhana and their relevance to modern society. The program successfully ended on January 06, 2021.
ISJS SIGNED A MOU WITH GHENT UNIVERSITY, BELGIUM
ISJS signed a MoU with Ghent University, Belgium on December 18, 2020 to promote international academic, cultural and scientific exchange. The two institutions deem it mutually beneficial to strengthen the bonds between the two academic communities and to contribute to a greater understanding and communication between two cultures.
The areas of cooperation include any program offered with mutual consent. Both parties will encourage direct contact and cooperation between their faculty members, departments, institutes and centers in appropriate academic and scientific programs.
ISJS SIGNED A MOU WITH GUJARAT UNIVERSITY, AHMEDABAD
ISJS signed a MoU with Gujarat University, Ahmedabad on January 16, 2021 to promote the areas of academic studies of Jainism and Languages programs like Prakrit, Apabhramsha, Hindi and Gujarati, both ISJS’s existing programs as well as the proposed MA & PhD programs.

ISJS LOOKING FOR A DIRECTOR / CHIEF EXECUTIVE
ISJS invites applications for the position of Director / Chief Executive at Pune. The selected candidate will be responsible to actualize the Vision and Mission of ISJS and all other activities.
The candidate must have PhD in Philosophy or Religion with a major emphasis on Jain philosophy, history, literature, practices, way of life and their applications to enhance personal and social wellness from a reputed University in India or Abroad.
Candidates with lesser experience will be considered for other academic positions.

International School for Jain Studies in association with The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute had organized a two days international seminar on “Traces of Śramaṇa Tradition (with special reference to Jainism): Prior to 650 BCE” on October 5th & 6th, 2019 at Navalveerayatan, Pune.
Now, ISJS is in the process to publish the proceeding of the seminar. This proceeding contains 13 selected papers presented in this seminar exploring the available archaeological, cultural, social and literary evidences to substantiate the existence of Jain tradition before 650 BCE.
ISJS-TRANSACTIONS (ONLINE RESEARCH JOURNAL)
The October-December 2020 issue of ‘ISJS-Transactions’ is in progress and will be available for the readers by the end of January 2021.
Now, ISJS invites research papers for its upcoming issues. The journal is open for the scholars/researchers/faculties for their research papers on various aspects of Jainology, i.e. philosophy, culture, religion, history, archaeology, art & architecture, science, relevance today and many more.
