RESIDENTIAL AND ONLINE PROGRAMS TO LEARN AND EXPLORE JAINISM THIS SUMMER IN INDIA
Through the following programs (Residential and Online), International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) offers an excellent proposal for overseas university students, staff and researchers as well as high school teachers to visit India in Summer 2021 and learn the doctrine of Ahimsa (non-violence) from the Jain perspective to enhance their overall wellness and knowledge. ISSJS.2021-3W: This three-week program is designed to cater to the needs of undergraduate and graduate degree holders, PhD candidates, professors and faculty in Religion, Philosophy, South Asian Studies, Anthropology and other related subjects (history, art, music, public health, bioethics, education, management etc.) who desire to learn about Jainism as a part of their higher education.
Residential: June 14–July 04, 2021 at Pune & Ahmedabad Online: July 15 to August 04, 2021
ISSJS.2021-5W Residential (June 14–July 18, 2021 at Pune, Ahmedabad & Delhi): This five-week advanced program is designed for sincere and self-motivated graduate and PhD students, post-doctoral scholars and full-time teaching-cum-research faculty involved in Religion, Philosophy, South Asian Studies, Languages, Anthropology, Theology and allied subjects.
PS: Special financial assistance is available only for the 5W program.
Not worth missing: Field visit (for residential) to Jain pilgrimage and one-on-one interaction with Jain scholars is the unique feature of these programs.

LEARN ABOUT NONVIOLENCE AND ITS APPLICATIONS WITH ISJS
ISJS providing an opportunity to learn about nonviolence (ahimsa) and its applications through its program ISSJS.2021-Teaching for Peace (TFP). This program (Residential & Online) is designed for teachers & educators who wish to integrate practical non-violence into their lives, classrooms and schools.
This program is available for residential as well as online.

EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN PRAKRIT UNDER BHAGWAN MAHAVIR FELLOWSHIP IN INDIA
ISJS invites applications from interested scholars for fully paid Bhagwan Mahavir Fellowships for 9 months in India to study Prakrit language (a language of Jain canonical literature).
The fellowship provides full boarding, lodging, monthly stipend (for personal expenses), tuition, course material and travels within India in connection with the program. The selected scholars will only pay their own airfare to and from India, the passport and visa fee etc.
This is an excellent opportunity for four fellowships that will be made available.
21st BIENNIAL JAINA CONVENTION ONLINE
Every two years Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA) hosts a biennial JAINA convention. It’s a premier event that brings the Jain community together where more than 5,000 Jains gather from across the world. This year also JAINA is organizing this convention to the rest of the world.
The 21st Biennial JAINA Convention will be held from 01 – 06 July, 2021 on its virtual platform.
BOOK REVIEW IN ISJS-TRANSACTIONS (ONLINE RESEARCH JOURNAL)
ISJS has introduced a Book Review section in its Online Research Journal (ISJS-Transactions) with the hope that the feature would continue in the future. The book ‘Jain Community of Bundelkhand’ written by Prof. Prakash C. Jain was taken for the first review, in the October- December 2020 issue of the journal which was reviewed by Mr. Vijay Kumar Soni.
ISJS invites the newly published books on Jainism for review. The book should not be published before 2020. Authors/Editors/Publishers are requested to send two copies of the book (one for the reviewer and another for ISJS record). Only one book along with a review article on that can also be sent.
