EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN PRAKRIT UNDER BHAGWAN MAHAVIRA FELLOWSHIP IN INDIA

ISJS invites applications from interested scholars for fully paid Bhagwan Mahavira Fellowship for 9 months in India to study Prakrit language (a language of Jain canonical literature).

The fellowship provides full boarding, lodging, monthly stipend (for personal expenses), tuition, course material and travel within India in connection with the program. The selected scholars will only bear their own airfare to and from India, the passport and visa fee etc.

ISJS is looking for qualified scholars of Philosophy, religion, history and culture at different levels to work on their education and research projects. A book edited by Dr. Shugan Chand Jain and Dr. Shrinetra Pandey entitled “Traces of Shraman Tradition (with special reference to Jainism) Prior to 650 BCE” published by International School for Jain Studies (ISJS), Pune is now available for readers.

ISJS has introduced a Book Review section in its Online Research Journal (ISJS-Transactions) with a vision to recognize upcoming literature in Jainism and a commitment to promote literary work in the field.

The latest (January-March 2021) issue contains a review of the book entitled Sallekhanā: The Jain Approach to Dignified Death edited by Dr. Shugan Chand Jain and Prof. Christopher Key Chapple which is reviewed by Ms. Pragya Jain.

ISJS invites newly published books on Jainism for review. The book should be published in or after 2020. Authors/Editors/Publishers are requested to send two copies of the book (one for the reviewer and one for ISJS library). A single book along with a review article on that can also be sent.
