STATUS OF DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI OF ISJS
International School for Jain Studies ‘ISJS’, a leading institution for academic studies of Jainism, was setup in 2005. Its mission is to introduce academic studies of Jainism in the universities globally. So far 547 participants from 141 universities of 22 countries and 119 school teachers from 105 schools primarily from USA have attended ISJS Summer Programs. A large number of its alumni are pursing further studies with emphasis on Jainism.
Our recent survey of ISJS alumni showed the following results:
- Recent Appointments as Faculty Members in North American Universities - 12 ;
- Existing Faculty Members who Introduced Jain Studies in their Universities - 7 ;
- Upcoming Jain Scholars (many more likely) - 4.

- NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON ESSENCE OF SAMAYASĀRA: Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India & International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) are honoured to organize a Seven days ICPR workshop on Essence of Samayasāra at Shri Atma Vallabh Jain Smarak Shikshan Nidhi, Alipur, Delhi from June 4th to 10th, 2019. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Jain concept of Soul depicted in Samayasāra of Ācārya Kundakunda by leading academicians in English/Hindi medium and interact with them during the classes and afterwards. - NATIONAL SEMINAR ON ŚRAMAṆA TRADITION: International School for Jain Studies (ISJS), New Delhi in association with The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), Pune is organizing two days National Seminar on ŚRAMAṆA TRADITION (WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO JAINISM) PRIOR TO 650 BC on 5th & 6th October, 2019 at Naval Veerayatan, Pune. - Prof. Chritopher Key Chapple coming to ISJS: ISJS had been blessed since its inception to have Prof. Chapple as its guide to promote academic studies of Jainism globally. Prof. Chapple is the Doshi Professor of Indic and Comparative Theology and Director, Master of Arts in Yoga Studies at Loyola Marymount University, USA. Prof. Chapple is coming to ISJS as a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar, 2019-2020 for undertaking research on Jain Yogas with special emphasis on Yogabindu of Haribhadra. He will be available with us from August-December, 2019.

- Teacher Exchange Program: As part of its continuing program to impart training to high school teachers, in the use of nonviolence in schools, the International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) started Teaching for Peace Exchange / Sabbatical program in 2018. Now ISJS is looking for two teachers who have already attended one of our 3 weeks Teaching for Peace program during the last seven years or are likely/planning to attend the same in 2019 summer.
