NEW YEAR GREETINGS

2018 WINTER PROGRAM STARTS

1st Winter Program of ISJS beings on December 28th, 2018 at Preksha Dhyan Academy, Koba-Patia, Gandhinagar Highway, Koba – 382009, Gujarat. There are 20 participants from USA, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Singapore and India. These participants are undergraduate, graduate, PhD candidates, professors, faculty members, high school teachers and professionals who wish to have experiential Immersion in Jain philosophy and way of life.

Sh. Samveg Lalbhai (Pramukh of Anandji Kalyanji Trust) was the Chief Guest of Inaugural Function. Sh. Shripal Shah (Trustee of Anandji Kalyanji Trust), Sh. Vijay Jain (Chairman, VPJ Group), Sh. Gautam Navalchand Shah (Ex-Mayor of Ahmedabad) and Sh. Shobhagmal Kataria (Founder, Kataria Group and Philanthropist) also present in this function. Dr. Jaswant Modi (Sponsor for this Winter Program) and Dr. Sulekh Jain from USA also addressed all participants through Skype during this function. Dr. Shugan Jain, Chairman of ISJS casted the Vote of Thanks.

So far participants had lectures on Jain History, Culture, Philosophy by Dr. Shugan Jain, Dr. Nitin Shah (USA), Prof. Prakash Jain (Delhi), Dr. S.N. Pandey, Joint Director of ISJS. All participants and faculty members including Dr. Nitin Shah and wife performed a day long pilgrimage of Holy Palitana and even got the benefit of a leading Jain Acharya on Jain way of life there as well as visit the famous Jain temples at Songarh. Some leading Scholars from USA and Europe (Profs Subash Jain, Sulekh Jain, Hema Pokharna Vinod Kapashi) will deliver lectures in this program. Beside these Dr. Narendra Bhandari and Dr. Surendra Pokharna from Ahmedabad will also deliver their lectures. This winter program will ends on 7th January, 2019. INVITATION FOR 2019 SUMMER PROGRAMS

Through following programs ISJS offers an excellent proposal for overseas university students, staff and researchers as well as High school teachers to visit India in summer 2019 and learn the doctrine of Ahimsa (nonviolence) and Jainism to enhance ether overall wellness and knowledge. Apply fast as there is an early bird discount of 5% for those who apply before March 31st 2019.

  1. ISSJS.2019-4W (June 12 – July 10, 2019): This four week program is designed to cater to the needs of third and fourth year undergraduate, graduate, degree holders, PhD Candidates, Professors and faculty in Religion, Philosophy, South Asian Studies and Anthropology and other related subjects (history, art, music, public health, bio-ethics, education, management etc.) who desire to learn about Jainism as a part of their higher education. ISSJS.2019-6W (June 12 – July 21, 2019): This six week advanced program is designed for serious and motivated Graduate and PhD students, Post Doctoral scholars and full time teaching cum research faculty involved in religion, South Asian religions or studies and languages, anthropology, theology and allied subjects.   3. ISSJS.2019-3W Prakrit Program (July 6 – 27, 2019): This three week new program design for serious scholars of Jainism, Buddhism and History of South Asian Religion with aim to make the participants understand Prakrit language and literature. Click here for poster.
  4. ISSJS.2019-Teaching for Peace (July 7 – 28, 2019): This program is designed for teachers & educators who wish to integrate practical nonviolence into their lives, classrooms and schools. Click here for poster.

Ms. Sanjali Jain, Ex-communication officer of National Science Centre Singapore and an Alumnus of ISJS, joined ISJS as an Editorial and Communication Officer of ISJS.

ONLINE RESEARCH JOURNAL "ISJS-TRANSACTIONS" (ISSN: 2457-0583)

In few days 4th issue of 2018 will be available online. The scholars willing to contribute their unpublished articles/research papers for ISJS-Transactions may send it through email. Experts and scholars on Jain Studies and Indic religions are also encouraged to register themselves as reviewers of articles for the publication. SEMINAR / WORKSHOP / LECTURE

  1. Call for Abstract: We are likely to organize a Two day National Seminar on "Prevalence of Shraman & Vedic Tradition During 3000-1000 BC" in April, 2019. Abstract of the paper is pre-requirement for organizing this seminar. ISJS invites abstract from the scholars of this field. Kindly send your abstract by 31st January, 2019

Institute of Indology, Ahmedabad on 14th December, 2018 at Department of Philosophy, Delhi University. The lecture was organized by B.L. Institute of Indology, Delhi in collaboration with Department of Philosophy, Delhi University and sponsored by ICPR, Delhi.
