VISIT BY DR. GUDRUN BUHNEMANN TO ISJS

Dr. Gudrun Buhnemann, Dept. of Asian Languages and Cultures, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA visited ISJS New Delhi on March 11, 2020 with Dr. Harini Narayan, India Programs Director, UW in India, CET Academic Programs regarding visit of Jain sites in Delhi by group of students from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. The group will do 2 half day Jain sites visit with ISJS in the month of May. On March 12, 2020 Dr. Buhnemann visited few of the Jain sites with Dr. S.N. Pandey, Joint Director of ISJS.

SUMMER PROGRAMS IN INDIA

Our admission committee has decided to postpone this year’s summer programs till next year (2021) due to COVID-19. Admissions to ISSJS.2020-4W/6W/TFP will be valid for ISSJS.2021. We will keep you informed of the new schedule latest by November 2020.

ONE YEAR PRAKRIT RESEARCH AND STUDY PROGRAM - 2nd BATCH STARTS AUGUST 1st 2020.

Under Bhagwan Mahavira Prakrit Research and Study Program organized by International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) for one year (2019-2020), three scholars namely Mr. Itamar Ramot, PhD candidate (University of Chicago, USA), Ms. Corinne Smith, MA (SOAS, London) and Mr. Anando Ghosh, MA (SOAS, London) doing their studies at Shantiniketan under the guidance of Prof. J.R. Bhattacharyya, the renowned scholar of Prakrit language. However, due to COVID-19 and restrictions imposed by Government of India, it was decided to deferred the program till further notice. On March 18, 2020 the participants return to their home.

The scholarships for the 2nd batch also deferred till 2021.

ISJS preparing a database of Jain Scholars in India and aboard, in this regard we have already added few names in the list (www.isjs.in/jain-scholars).
