ONE YEAR PRAKRIT RESEARCH AND STUDY PROGRAM - 2nd BATCH STARTS AUGUST 1st 2020.

Under Bhagwan Mahavira Prakrit Research and Study Program organized by International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) for one year (2019-2020), three scholars namely Mr. Itamar Ramot, PhD candidate (University of Chicago, USA), Ms. Corinne Smith, MA (SOAS, London) and Mr. Anando Ghosh, MA (SOAS, London) doing their studies at Shantiniketan under the guidance of Prof. J.R. Bhattacharyya, the renowned scholar of Prakrit language.

The scholarships for the 2nd batch i.e. 2020-2021 are available. Applications are invited from potential candidates in North America and Europe primarily. Last date for application is May 15, 2020. Clik here for details.

VISIT BY DR. JOHANNES BELTZ TO ISJS

Dr. Johannes Beltz of Museum Rietberg Zurich visited ISJS, Delhi office on February 10, 2020 with his colleague Mr. Harsha Vinay. Both Dr. Beltz and Mr. Vinay met Dr. Shugan Jain, Chairman and Dr. S.N. Pandey, Joint-Director of ISJS. They discussed about the possibilities of exhibition of Jain Artefacts at the exhibition of Jain art proposed to be held in 2023 at the museum in Zurich. Also discussions were held in likely supporters from India for the exhibition which will travel to London and Los Angeles and perhaps India.

VISIT BY PROF. MEGUMI HIRAYAMA TO ISJS

Prof. Megumi Hirayama, Professor, Faculty of International Studies, Meiji Gakuin University visited ISJS office on February 29, 2020. Prof. Hirayama met Dr. Shugan Jain and Dr. S.N. Pandey. During this meeting they discussed about activities of ISJS and possibilities of her university and others from Japan to attend ISSJS 2020 and onwards.

RECENT PUBLICATIONS

International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) and Shipra Publications, New Delhi Published a book on “Jain Community of Bundelkhand Socio-Economic and Cultural Change”. Prof. Prakash C Jain is the Author of this book. The book analyses the demographic, economic, educational, socio-cultural and religious changes in the Jain community of Bundelkhand that have occurred within the span of two-three generations.
